Added epoxy-flox mixture to tips. Further reinforced tips, which also allows the ability to sand back if needed a little bit. Fiberglass reinforcing gussets were added to most of the tip pieces. These will prevent the added fiberglass from cracking free/separating from the factory part.
Very simple day today. The off-cut from the right counterweight was melted with other scrap into a mould that was routered into a 2 x 4 scrap. Gathered up all the scrap led that I could find. I created an adequately sized mold in a 2 x 4. The 2 x 4 was routered out using a straight flute bit over several passes. Don’t have a heat source to melt lead. Will grab a torch.
The lead counterbalances were filed more to ensure fit of the fiberglass tips. Sanded the tips a bit more. Short on time, delaying working on these tips…
Worked on shaping the counterweights and fitting the fiberglass tips. Not sold that I want to be working on this, but don’t have much of an option. Very hesitant in making a plan and moving forward.
