EP 4.31 Mounting the Tail Surfaces
Elevators, Vertical Stab
The elevators were mounted and hooked up. This was not without an issue with drilling, in which the holes in the elevator horn came too close to the edge and had to be fill welded shut for another shot at drilling. The vertical stab was also first trial fit, then mounted to the deck of […]
Mounting Tail Surfaces – A Start
Well, being done with the canopy for the time being, I need somewhere else to point my efforts, and mounting the tail surfaces here in the garage has been recommended by many a folk. The idea is to follow the instructions as if this were final construction, mounting the horizontal stabilizer, then elevators, hooking up […]
Aft Deck Completion
The completion of the aft deck was as satisfying as the initial fit. Again, this area just fit together beautifully, with all lines parallel, and the aft end of the piece lining up in every aspect with the aft bulkhead. Again, a testament to the kit quality, not necessarily the build or builder here.
Aft Deck
The aft fuselage deck, or stabilizer deck, was fitted. This required leveling the whole fuse–which was 90% there from the careful work done during the flip. A special episode looking back at one year of building.

More Rudder Tips
A lot of Bondo added to the tips, and again, 99% sanded off. Well, maybe not 99%. It takes a bit of thickness to get these lines to flow. More than the elevators. It’s looking good. Final sanding and primer tomorrow.
