Slider Frame and Rail

With aft skins on, and roll bar attached, it meant I could test out this canopy frame. From what I hear, I could plan on wrestling with this thing for months. I also feel like I’ve been semi-consciously building this up in my head so that I can be pleasantly surprised.

The slider space and slider rail were easy enough to assemble. I worked hard to match the bends and try to achieve a constant “bond” between the two. This won’t be attached to the fuse for some time, as its position may need to be adjusted, and is one area where we can offset items to account for variation in the frame.

I also fabbed up the frame slider rails. Again, easy enough. These had to be cut to length from the stock (of which it seems I was provided over twice what was needed…). I also had to sand the aft end for clearance, and drill some initial alignment holes.

Testing the slider, it’s clear that adjustment will be necessary, but it doesn’t seem to be too far off…
