Fuel Tank Leaks

The left tank has some significant leaks–and not just from the testing equipment, though I’m still battling those leaks too.

The outboard edge at the baffle is showing bubbles when soapy water is applied. Not sure how this happened. I thought it would be a cleaner construction the second time around. Perhaps my sense of expertise got the better of me.

I was sick of the balloon and leaking fitting so I bought some “testing equipment” from the cheap hardware store. A pressure/vacuum gauge, a pump, and other items.

I also purchase some syringes and tubing, thinking I could squirt a bead of sealant along the baffle. This may have worked if I thinned it, and I wished I would have.

Instead, I smeared sealant down there as best I could. This may have to be reworked, but the tank is finally sealed. I’ll give it some time. If I don’t feel right about it I’ll get a tank leak kit from Van’s and cut that bay open.
