Attaching the Side Skirts

Finished side skirt, clamped in place

The side skirts were attached. Now first, I think I have to mention that the previous fitting issue with the frame was resolved with some brute force reshaping of the frame WHILE the canopy was attached to it. Scary, as I thought there was about a 50/50 chance the canopy would crack…

With the canopy and frame now sliding well, and no interference from the side skins, I felt I could attach the side skirts.

This was more than just riveting the skirt to the frame and using Sika to attach it to the canopy. It also require fabricating the inner skirt support–a delicate little piece that was quite the feat of fabrication.

The skirts look great, but this part was fairly intricate and complicated. A few days went into making sure this all aligned and was done right. In the end, I have a little bit larger of a vertical gap at the front of each skirt than I would like. Oh well…
