The wings arrived and were loaded in the garage last Wednesday. Work was finished up on the garage (mostly…) and the garage was cleaned up and organized and the unloading/inventory began.
Inventory took until midday Saturday, with only a few discrepancies found awaiting a response from Vans—all very simple and none would affect my ability to start on the project.
The work begins by prepping the spars for the rest of the construction. First is adding nut plates, which requires countersinking the spar, riveting on the nut plate, then countersinking the screw hole. Any countersinking must be reprimed to ensure the spar material is not left exposed.
This is where buying two countersink cages paid off huge!
Today (Sunday), I was able to complete the top side of the right spar fuel tank countersinks. I expect to be able to complete the bottom right, and top/bottom left tomorrow.
