The stock rear baffle support utilize two crankcase bolts, one of which on the IOX-370 is occupied by a lift loop. Reluctant to remove the lift loop and try to source all new hardware for a crank case location, I created a rear baffle support that braces from behind the rear baffle, not in front. […]
Getting the heater sorted is still on the long list. A step towards marking that system “done” was creating the screened intake on the starboard side inlet ramp. Also installed was the inlet ramp gusset that better mates up to the cowl.
I frequently threaten to “tidy” wiring runs. I did just that, as there’s a lot to be done up front. The runs up front need to be secured well, and guided so that there will be no chafing. There’s still much to be done, including securing the connectors for the pressure sensors and figuring out […]
Fitting of the snorkel continues. It’s an incredible challenge to get the snorkel trimmed correctly, mating with the inlet ramp and baffles. In hindsight, these elements could have been aligned better. The height difference between the lower cowl inlet lip sits too high and sealing the gap here will be a challenge. I’m not sure […]
Starting on the snorkel is a bit daunting. I don’t want to mess this up, yet the fit and engineering here seem like it’s impossible to do “right.” Meaning, the snorkel doesn’t really fit out of the box. You need to modify the starter, many people need to modify the snorkel to fit around the […]
So most of this landed on Instagram rather than here and YouTube, but here’s the skinny: I created an oil door. More than that, I modified the original oil door in a few ways: A hidden, or blind, hinge from Aircraft Spruce, a reinforced hatch to prevent flex and with it: in-flight openings, and an […]
