Cowling Work

As much as I want it to be done, the cowl has a lot more work do be done before we fly. Luckily, a bunch was completed and shown below.

First up: louvers

The louvers used to be an optional kit, I believe, but are now included and from what I can tell, recommended for all installs. For the benefit of getting as much cooling as I can, I’ve gone ahead and installed them.

The next aspect of the cowl needing to be addressed, or readdressed, is the blister. I started this long ago, but put it aside when the form wasn’t quite right. I’ve sculpted a new relief that matches much better, has a smaller, asymmetric form, and should allow ample room for the mixing arm.

This plug will need a mold pulled from it, and then the final part created from the mold. A bit of work, but I think it will look great.

The final part will be installed from the inside, and filleted in to the cowl.
