I don’t have a lot of great photos for this post–just a bunch of video, unfortunately. I’ve installed an incredible amount of whirlwigs on the frontside of this thing:

Battery: I went with an Odyssey battery. I looked at the EarthX battery but wasn’t comfortable investing so much in a battery that wasn’t going to be properly cycled for a year or two at the soonest. Plus, I need weight up front. Having the Van’s installation kit specifically for this battery really helped the decision along. I also got a charger/conditioner for the battery, and frequently keep it plugged in.

80 Amp ANL Fuse + Holder: I bought two. The first just felt like a cheap piece of crap, so I ordered another I saw. I didn’t order the second one the first time because it was for a boat, but later saw many people had the Blue Sea model on their plane and though, “fuck it.” Well, it too feels like a piece of crap, albeit a more expensive one.

I went 80 amp, as recommended for a 60 amp alternator. Don’t need this thing popping on me prematurely. It’s connected after the master contactor, to the input lug of the starter contactor, via 1/16″ copper bar.

Master Contactor: purchased from Van’s. Also purchased the diodes to prevent pitting via arcing. Installed per-plans with nutplates and doublers.

Starter Contactor: also purchased from Van’s and installed in the same manner. Connected to the Master via 1/8″ copper bar. Note: I did not double up 1/16″ per plans, but had a piece of 1/8″ copper I used to fab up this run. Very stout.

Shunt: provided in the Garmin sensor package. Also connected via 1/16″ copper bar bent to fit nicely.

Wiring throughout (batter -> components) was created from wiring provided in the Van’s wiring kit ordered early on in the build.
