The horizontal intake/fuel servo installation puts the mixture arm just a little more forward than the cowl will allow, so a blister, or relief, is needed to create room with the mixture arm is full rich.
I wanted to create a blister that was symmetrical and purposeful looking, machined and aggressive.
I’ve seen folks use balloons, foam balls, and modeling clay to look create blisters that are aerodynamic. Unfortunately, to me, they all look like goiters and don’t match the aesthetic of the remaining airframe.
Unfortunately, neither does what I created.


The corners, too sharp. The scale, too small. The front part, too flat.
As much as I want to just push forward with this and call it “done,” it simply is not going to work. Back to the drawing board…
